Our Story
Performance,
not hype.
Lorhia was built on one belief: effective skincare starts with a healthy barrier.
The Philosophy
Our Mission
We curate formulations that put barrier science first. No fragrance for its own sake. No actives stacked without purpose. Every product in our range is chosen because the evidence supports it — not the marketing budget behind it.
Lorhia is rooted in Scandinavian minimalism. We believe in fewer, better choices. A thoughtful five-step routine outperforms a cluttered twelve-step one every time.
Our Origin
How We Got Here
Lorhia began with a frustration, not a business plan. Too many of us had medicine cabinets full of products bought on the promise of a trend, half-finished, half-trusted, and quietly contributing to the very sensitivity and irritation we were trying to treat.
The skincare industry rewards novelty. New actives, new claims, new routines every season. We wanted to build something that rewarded the opposite: consistency, restraint, and a habit of asking why before adding anything to a routine. Lorhia exists to do the reading so our customers do not have to — to separate genuine barrier science from the next twelve-step trend.
We are not the largest skincare destination, and that is by design. We would rather carry forty products we trust completely than four hundred we have not fully vetted.
What We Stand For
Our Three Pillars
01
Clinically Considered
Every active we stock has peer-reviewed evidence behind it. We read the studies so you don't have to.
02
Barrier-First
We don't strip to treat. A functioning skin barrier is the foundation of every good skincare outcome.
03
Curated Without Compromise
We list fewer products than our competitors by design. Each SKU earns its place.
Our Process
Our Approach to Curation
Every product considered for Lorhia goes through the same filter: does the formulation respect the skin barrier, and does the evidence support the claims being made. Ingredient lists are reviewed for unnecessary fragrance, irritating actives stacked without purpose, and pH levels that work against — rather than with — the skin's natural balance.
This is also why our catalogue stays deliberately small. A retailer with thousands of SKUs cannot vet each one with the same scrutiny. We can, because we choose not to grow that way. When a product earns a place in our edit, it is because it has passed a process — not because it arrived with a marketing budget attached.
How We Communicate
Considered, Not Crowded
This same philosophy extends to how we communicate. We will not send a daily email about a flash sale, and we will not tell you that you need a thirteenth step. What we will do is share the science behind the ingredients we carry, in the Journal, so that every addition to your routine is a considered one rather than an impulsive one.
Transparency
Vegan & Cruelty-Free
We love that so many of our products are vegan-friendly, and we proudly label "PETA-certified" and "Vegan-certified" items wherever we can confirm it. For everything else, we're honest with you: we can't promise with full certainty that no step in the supply chain ever involved animal testing. If this matters to you, we're happy to help you check with the brand directly.
